Toy Creations

This term we have been looking at toys and their ethical and environmental sustainability. We had a guest speaker come and talk to us about Trade Aid and their efforts to be an ethical organisation by paying the creators of their goods directly without need for a 'middle man'. We looked at different countries and their toys and mapped where our own toys come from. We also looked at the NZ Buzzy Bee toy and other NZ made toys.
We have finished our unit of work by planning, creating, revising plans and then finally building our own toys and games. This afternoon we spent some time playing one another's games.

An Inspirational Thought Inspired by Dr Seuss

Kia ora whanau, Here is a lovely poem that has been written by an anonymous person in the style of Dr. Suess.  Remember our parody work?  This is an example of this.  Share it with your whanu, I love the message this poem gives, I hope you feel the same.  Here are some ideas for the next two weeks of the school holidays, have some fun with your whanau! And finally, here is a suggested timetable that you may (or may not!) find useful. Finally, look after one another, practise kindness and keep smiling, kia kaha and remember our class mission statement - this is who we are and what we aim for.   Nga mihi nui whanau.   Mrs Salisbury
